Responsible to process purchasing requisitions for service and projects. The Buyer will be responsible for creating and tracking purchase orders, alerting operations when orders have been filled and approving invoices from suppliers. The successful candidate for this position has experience in the construction industry and a strong understanding of supply chain management concepts. This position will report directly to the Director of Finance and has no supervisory responsibilities.
  • Develop an efficient and accurate system for monitoring all open purchase orders
  • Work with the project team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back-ordered or missing products
  • Coordinate communication between Engineering, Operations, Warehouse, and Suppliers
  • Evaluate bids, select and recommend suppliers and negotiate price, delivery, quality, service and terms and conditions
  • Read/understand Purchase Orders and Terms & Conditions
  • Conduct supplier site visits as needed
  • Comply with corporate policies and procedures and underlying federal, state and/or local regulations concerning the purchase of shipment of goods, materials and services
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with office staff and management
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with suppliers and customers (internal and external)
  • Establish and maintain professional business relations with clients
  • Effectively research, track, and resolve (or properly refer) accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
  • Maintain confidentiality relating to source documents, data, and reports
  • Participate in effective and efficient workflow through the office
  • Maintain data integrity of company software systems
  • Assumes other related duties as required or assigned
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience and training
  • At least two (2) years of related experience preferred
  • Understanding of basic accounting practices and procedures
  • Well organized, accurate and attentive to detail
  • Strong time management, problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Computer proficiency in a Windows environment using MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), accounting software and other common programs
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
