The Solution Engineer’s primary responsibility is to drive new business to MTG by conceptualizing and presenting technological solutions that solve problems and create value for our clients.  This position collaborates with and supports Account Managers and Operations to help qualify, design, sell, and successfully execute innovative solutions for potential and existing clients.  This position requires in-depth technical knowledge and hands-on skills related to current and forthcoming security, voice/data, audio/video (A/V), and other low voltage products, systems, and practices.  
  
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Pre and Post Sales Responsibilities
  • Provide pre-sales technical solutions to Account Managers and clients; conduct and lead discovery meetings to understand the client’s technology environment; illustrate, demonstrate, and communicate solutions and their purpose; accomplish solution alignment with client objectives.
  • Capture and process client information to build solid proposed solutions that address client requirements while considering the solution’s effectiveness, scalability, supportability, reliability, flexibility, and availability.
  • Identify end-user demographics such as who uses the solution and how the solution will be used.
  • Identify business processes which are supported by or reliant on the solution, how each process is supported, and which manual supporting processes are necessary for the application.
  • Identify and understand what data is necessary for the solution and how the data is made available to the solution, outlining any data integration features or opportunities.
  • Identify what and how solution hardening and security is implemented.
  • Work closely with engineering and technical resources to document all aspects of the proposed solution and ensure all aspects are communicated to all parties and fully vetted and approved internally.
  • Assist with the technical scope development and review the Statement of Work, constructively participating in the proposal development process with Account Managers and Project Managers to ensure bids/proposals are accurate.
  • Present the proposed solution to the client with the Account Manager, providing a technical resource to answer any questions and/or concerns that may arise.
  • Proactively follow-up with each client as requested, demonstrating a sense of urgency.
  • Maintain relationships with vendor partners to ensure MTG is viewed as a go to partner and for assistance and post-sales support when necessary or requested.
 
Operational Responsibilities.
  • Mentor designers, engineers and technical staff to drive technical excellence within the organization.
  • Research and develop innovative solutions to establish MTG as a go to consultant and systems integrator in the security and audio/visual market.
  • Serve as a team member of the project staff during project execution if required. 
  • Assist Project Managers with communication between project staff, vendors, and clients to keep the work efforts and issues organized, on schedule, and communicated appropriately.
  • Provide last line support in troubleshooting, documenting and resolving application and system problems following the defined problem identification and resolution processes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with business and technical team members, subject matter experts, managers, clients and vendors.
  • Maintain expertise in TCP/IP communications, databases and application programming interfaces to support the design and implementation of networked solutions.
  • Document and communicate change requests to the appropriate MTG resources and end-users following the defined change management processes.
  • Test and validate application/firmware upgrades and changes as needed to support solution development efforts.
 
General/Other Responsibilities.
  • Provide and maintain extensive industry knowledge of current products, new technologies, and industry trends to facilitate strategic company decisions.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with our customers, co-workers, LSPs and vendors to meet business objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
