Low Voltage Technician - Audio/Visual Division

A Low Voltage Technician for our Audio/Visual department is expected to be proficient in all responsibilities associated with the position and be capable of working independently as well as have the ability to provide some direction and technical expertise to other team members, interface with Project Managers as needed and deliver accurate and timely results at the end of each project.
  • Must be familiar with all NFPA, NEC and OSHA codes and standards
  • Ability to read and understand blue prints and AV system schematic diagrams, identify cable paths and relay site survey information to project managers
  • Ability to identify, install, terminate, test and label a variety of low voltage and AV-specific cable types: CAT5/6, coax cable, speaker wire, line-level audio and microphone wire, etc.
  • Capable of installing and properly supporting a variety of AV components including but not limited to video displays, projectors, projection screens and speakers
  • Capable of assembling, installing and terminating AV equipment racks and head-ends.
  • Ability to perform start-up and debugging of AV systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair any system or component level equipment failures with ability to use and understand various test equipment including a digital multimeter
  • Some knowledge and ability to perform “configuration level” programming of various systems
  • Maintain records by documenting installation
  • Show potential organizational and leadership skills relevant to carrying out day-to-day responsibilities
  • Responsible for completing all assigned tasks within the specified cost budget and schedule, personally responsible for the quality of work performed
  • Perform related work as required
  • JATC Education and Journeymen Installer level obtained
  • Power Limited Technician License recommended
  • Highly motivated individual with proven record of high productivity; self starter
  • Ability to handle multiple issues simultaneously, with a positive attitude
  • Good communication skills with customers, peers and management
  • Demonstrates organizational and leadership skills relevant to carrying out day-to-day responsibilities
  • Stay current with all mandatory safety requirements and follow established safety practices
  • Must be comfortable working at heights of 3-25 ft
  • Must be able to pass drug test in this drug free workplace setting
  • Clean cut appearance
  • Ability to work nights when necessary
  • Some travel may be required
  • Must have a clean valid driver’s license with dependable transportation
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Occasionally required to sit
  • Regularly required to make fast, repetitive movements of the arms, wrists, hands and fingers
  • Regularly required to reach and stretch with arms and hands
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • Regularly lift and/or push/pull objects up to 25 pounds
  • Frequently lift and/or push/pull objects up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally lift and/or push/pull objects more than 100 pounds
  • Regularly required to hear, understand and respond appropriately
  • Vision abilities required include color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
