Low Voltage Fire Alarm/Security Technician

A Fire Alarm/Security Technician is responsible for installation of a wide variety of building fire alarm systems and equipment.  A Technician must excel in customer service skills and be capable of effective communication with clients, management and fellow employees.
Requirements include above average proficiency in all responsibilities associated with the position and the capability of working independently as well as have the ability to provide some direction and technical expertise to other team members, interface with Project Managers as needed and deliver accurate and timely results at the end of each project.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong professional relationships with our clients, vendors, partners and fellow employees
  • Read and understand blue prints and schematic diagrams
  • Identify cable paths and relay site survey information to project managers
  • Install, terminate, test and label a variety of low voltage cable types
  • Install a variety of cable support hardware using various anchoring or attachment components
  • Assemble and install a wide variety of equipment racks, cabinets and panels
  • Installation of grounding hardware and wiring in equipment rooms
  • Install, wire, device, terminate a variety of fire alarm panels
  • Effectively troubleshoot, diagnose and repair related systems
  • Maintain detailed and accurate installation drawings and documents
  • Complete all assigned tasks within the specified cost budget and schedule
  • Stay current with and adhere to all applicable codes and associated NICET specifications
  • Stay current with and adhere to all mandatory safety requirements and follow established safety practices
  • Be personally responsible for the quality of work performed
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned
  • High school graduate (minimum) plus substantial related experience
  • Power Limited Technician License required
  • NICET certification(s) preferred
  • Familiar with all NFPA, NEC and OSHA codes and standards
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm systems and practical field experience
  • Practical field experience in security systems preferred
  • Highly motivated individual with proven record of high productivity; self starter
  • Strong problem solving, decision-making abilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple issues simultaneously, with a positive attitude
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills relevant to carrying out day-to-day responsibilities
  • Must be comfortable working at heights of 3-40 ft
  • Must be able to pass drug test in this drug free workplace setting
  • Clean cut appearance
  • Ability to work nights when necessary
  • Some travel may be required
  • Must have a clean valid driver’s license with dependable transportation
